Learn about the services offered by Peer Support Specialists and Community Paramedics to people who have recently overdosed, are facing addiction, have a chronic disease, or have had more than four EMS encounters in a year.

Michael Lynn Hooper, Jr.
EMS
Michael serves his community as a Paramedic and Training Officer for Iredell County EMS. Michael graduated from West Iredell High School and obtained his AAS from Mitchell Community College. Michael is a Level II Paramedic Instructor and oversees the Iredell County EMS Education Institution. In his current role he coordinates continuing education and recertifications for over 600 Fire, Rescue, and EMS providers. Michael has been involved in Emergency Services for over 33 years. Michael serves on the Emergency Medical Science Advisory Committees for Rowan Cabarrus Community College, and Mitchell Community College. Recently Michael has been very active with Mitchell Community College in developing a Paramedic Apprenticeship Program that will help assure that Iredell County EMS has a sustainable supply of Paramedics for years to come.
Michael is a devoted father to a 9-year-old daughter. Michael enjoys golfing and sport shooting on his time off. Michael is an NRA Firearms Instructor and teaches North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun classes monthly. As Michael nears retirement from the EMS world, he looks forwards to teaching more firearm classes.
